Kati Winkler and René Lohse are new German Champions

Kati Winkler and René Lohse are the new German Ice Dancing Champions 2004. In front of an enthusiastic audience in the sold-out Erika-Hess-Ice Stadium they won their 6th national title against brother and sister Christina Beier and William Beier from Dortmund.

Both dance couples are going to compete at the European Championships to be held at the beginning of February in Budapest, Hungary.


Winkler/Lohse in 1st after Original Dance at the German Nationals

Kati Winkler and René Lohse remained in first place in the Original Dance at the German Nationals in Berlin on Saturday (January 03). The couple produced a strong dance to swing rhythms. They received marks from 5,6 to 5,8 for technical elements and from 5,8 to 5,9 for presentation.


Kati Winkler & René Lohse lead after the Compulsory Dances at the German Nationals

Kati Winkler and Rene Lohse took the lead after the Compulsory Dances Austrian Waltz and Yankee Polka on Friday (January 02, 2004) at the German National Championships in Berlin. They are followed by brother and sister Christina Beier and William Beier from Dortmund.

The ice dance competition consists of only two dance couples after Miriam Steinel from Munich announced her retirement from competitive skating. The 22 year old talent placed second at last year's championships with Vladimir Tsvetkov.

Probably from January 11th, 2004, Christina Beier and William Beier will take the free spot at coach Martin Skotnicky and train together with Winkler & Lohse in Oberstdorf. Christina and William have been coached so far by Oleg Ryjkin in Dortmund.
